🐔 Chickens
Boost protein for laying season
As daylight increases, hens ramp back up to full production. Make sure your layer feed is at 16–18% protein and offer oyster shell free-choice. If your flock was on a reduced ration through winter, transition back gradually over 7–10 days.
🐐 Goats & Cattle
Transition off winter grain slowly
Spring pasture is deceptively low in dry matter — it's mostly water. Don't pull hay too quickly just because grass is growing. For goats and cattle, keep hay available until pasture is established (6+ inches) and gradually reduce over 2–3 weeks.

Warm wet spring weather means parasite pressure begins. Ensure goats have free-choice access to copper-adequate minerals (like Shegogg Creek Goat Mineral) — copper supports natural immune response against worm loads. This is not a substitute for FAMACHA monitoring.
