Swine Feed
Feeding by Life Stage
Piglets (weaning to ~50 lbs)
Newly weaned pigs need highly digestible starter feed with 20–22% protein. Small, frequent meals ease the transition off milk. Creep feeding before weaning helps piglets adapt to solid food earlier.
Growers (50–125 lbs)
This is the primary growth phase. A 16% protein grower ration delivers the amino acids and energy needed for rapid muscle development. Feed-to-gain efficiency is best managed during this stage.
Finishers (125 lbs to market)
As pigs approach market weight, protein requirements drop slightly. A 14–16% finisher ration supports last gains while controlling fat deposition. Target 250–280 lbs for optimal carcass quality.
